Dixie Terminator vs. Large Angus Bull

Dixie Slugs is not known to publish speculation in Tech Notes or the Dixie Forum. We all see enough of that everywhere in the Gun & Ammo business in general. When we start talking about heavy and/or dangerous game…. all we get most of the time is pure speculation.  Since Dixie Slugs has been in existence, we have posted all types of tests for the shooter/hunter to look at. These tests have covered stress tests on bullets, penetration tests at the John Linebaugh Seminars, and Dixie’s Board of Advisors.

Here is Todd Corder’s report

That’s a Big Bull and a Big Tractor

That Butcher Knife is 13 ½” Long! You can also see the recovered Dixie Original Terminator bullet. The Original Terminator load is a re-introduction of the Original British Paradox Smokeless powder Load  - .730” - 730 gr. Hard Cast Heated Treated Bullet - 1200’/” Muzzle Velocity.  Needless to say, it still performs in heavy game animals! Remember, the bull weighed over a ton (2000 lbs.)!

This picture shows the recovered Terminator from the headshot. Considering the amount of skull, muscle, and vertebrae it penetrated and destroyed, it is still in very good condition. I doubt that very few 12-gauge bullets could match it.

Side Shot

This is the entrance hole of the Terminator. Note the clean-cut hole. The shape of the bullet’s nose is very important when penetration is needed in tough hides and fat. Many round nose bullet holes will seal up and reduce bleeding.

Before Incision to Recover Terminator

This picture shows the incision and recovered Terminator under the off side skin. Note the Thickness of the hide and fat!

Here is a picture of the recovered Terminator from under the skin of the bull on the off side. Looking close, one can still see The “T” stamp on the slug.

Here is a picture of the same slug (.730”-730 gr.) loaded in the Dixie Stryker 12. The Stryker 12 duplicates the Original Paradox Black Powder load at 1050’/” muzzle velocity. Note the condition of the slug, including the rifling marks. The Dixie Stryker 12 is very effective in lighter weight guns like the NEF Tracker and shows the effort put forth by Dixie to fit the load into the hunter and his hunting situation. The reduced recoil works great for the Lady

Hunters. Young beginner hunters like it also!

Conclusion

Dixie Slugs is fortunate indeed to have Todd Corder as one of our Board of Advisors! Todd has a vast amount of practical experience in all levels of the gun and ammo game. He is an associate of John Linebaugh and does many Linebaugh Seminars (see dates on the Dixie Forum). Todd has a no-nonsense approach to ammo testing and is well respected by all! Todd did all these pictures and tests!

What Todd has shown so graphically, is actual bullet performance, not some hair-brain speculation. This is exactly what the shooter/hunter needs when selecting ammo that his very life and health may well depend on!

Here is an added picture of another form of dangerous game! This is a true Wild Florida Boar Hog. These Boars still carry DNA from their Spanish ancestors! They are shy and retiring to the most isolated swamp areas. However, once aroused, they can be very dangerous! It is precisely this type game that Dixie Slugs is designed for! Animals like this must be put down hard and quick!  In this animal’s case, speculation does not count!
